Uber opens registration for taxi drivers in Saint Lucia
● The app invites licensed taxi operators to download the Uber Driver app and start the onboarding process now open islandwide.
Castries, Saint Lucia – December 16, 2025 – Uber announced today that it has opened the registration and onboarding process for taxi drivers in Saint Lucia, ahead of the app’s upcoming launch on the island. Licensed taxi operators who want to join the app can now sign up to be ready on day one.
“We are looking for licensed taxi drivers who want to increase their earnings through technology and reach a growing segment of tourists who already know and prefer the Uber app. The onboarding process is now active for our Uber Taxi option, which focuses on rides completed by licensed taxis,” said Jorge Cordero, General Manager for Uber in St. Lucia.
Also noted that they are reaching out to taxi associations and transportation companies across Saint Lucia to inform them about the opportunity to express their interest in joining the Uber app through a dedicated registration form. “Our goal is to work collaboratively with licensed taxi operators and their organizations as we prepare for Uber Taxi on the island.”

The Uber app will offer riders in Saint Lucia to complete trips using Uber Taxi, featuring only licensed taxi drivers. Taxi drivers who are interested can begin their registration and complete the onboarding steps directly through the Uber Driver app.
Uber Taxi enables any licensed taxi operator to drive with the app, provided they meet the service requirements. The option connects local taxi drivers with residents and the high volume of tourists who already rely on Uber when visiting new destinations. This option has already demonstrated strong adoption across the Caribbean, including in Barbados, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic, and remains widely used in major global markets such as France, Colombia, and New York City.
At the time of completing their registration, taxi drivers will be prompted to share the following documentation:
● Driver license
● Taxi permit
● Insurance
● Bank account that US dollars
● Profile picture
● Background Check

The app added that, for now, the priority is onboarding interested taxi drivers and engaging with them as critical stakeholders. Once everything is ready for activation, Uber will officially announce its launch in Saint Lucia.
